Biomass-powered ripening chambers have become a profitable venture for our FPO. We can now sell over 100 residue-free ripened banana crates to the market every day. These chambers are versatile, allowing us to store various vegetables and fruits. Ultimately, this initiative is improving our ability to serve our farmer members effectively.

Kannad- Sambhajinagar (MH)

In my first year of operation, I stored 160 tones of lemon using a 20 MT GreenCHILL™ setup. I made a net profit of 6 lakh this year. The system performed excellently. I utilised locally available biomass like maze corbs, waste from my lemon farm and groundnut shells, which kept optimal cost minimal. GreenCHILL™ proves to be the ideal technology for rural villages like ours.

  • I have closely observed the New Leaf cooling system installed at Baakdata Shetkari Vikas Gat in 2020. The system is quite innovative and catering to needs of small and marginal farmers who are unable to access 3 phase electricity power 24x7.

  • This pilot cut electricity use at our distribution center by 90% and now we have the technical backend to expand to locations where the grid is very weak. Supported by IFC TechEmerge program, in partnership with the UK government, we are reducing food wastage, improving farmer livelihoods, and contributing to the India Cooling Action Plan (ICAP).

  • I needed a long-term solution to store my pomegranates and bananas before exporting them and using GreenCHILL™ was exactly what I needed. The 200MT cold rooms allowed for long term storage and I just used the sugarcanes bagasse waste I had lying around for fuel. I didn’t need to use as much diesel as I used to.
